Women's water polo beats Bucknell in first round of CWPA Tournament

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Brown women's water polo moved on to the second round of the CWPA Tournament with a 17-8 win over Bucknell on Friday (April 22). Three Bears finished with three goals in the victory.
"This game was tougher than the score shows," said head coach Felix Mercado. "Bucknell is a very well coached team but we just clicked offensively today. Now we face the top seed Michigan and I am looking forward to seeing how we come out."
Lily Weiser, Dagmara Czajka and Claire Pisani each finished with three goals and Zoe King added two. Weiser finished the game with a team-high four assists, while King and Emily Suong each had three assists.
After Bucknell scored the first goal of the game, Brown rattled off four-straight goals to take a big lead. King scored two goals and Czajka and Sophie Golub each netted one during the run.
Goals from Czajka and Pisani put the Bears up 6-2 early in the second quarter. Bucknell responded with two goals but Brown got goals from Weiser, Katie Klein, Czajka to push the lead to 9-4. A goal from Suong with two seconds on the clock gave Brown a 10-5 lead at halftime.
Brown continued to increase its leads, winning the third quarter 3-0 with goals from Weiser, Katharine Knowles and Pisani.
The Bears picked up four goals in the final quarter with Weiser, Pisani, Sierra Martin and Siena Berry all finding the back of the net.
On defense, Marley Presiado finished with five blocks in goal and Czajka collected four steals.

Brown will take on No. 1 seed Michigan on Saturday (April 23) with the game beginning at 2:30 p.m.
