Women's tennis wraps nonconference play at #69 FAU
3/30/2022 5:33:00 PM | Women's Tennis
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Brown women's tennis team fell to No. 69 Florida Atlantic 4-3 Wednesday afternoon.
Gabby Soliman, Addison Ahlstrom, and Olivia Mariotti won their singles matches at No. 4, 5, and 6 respectively, but no other Bears were able to claim team points. Sophia Reddy and Linsey Hofflander won their No. 3 doubles match, but FAU took the top and second doubles spot for the doubles point.
"This week's goal, in preparation for the Ivy League season, was to face solid opponents in tough Florida conditions and fight through discomfort," head coach Lucie Schmidhauser said. "We accomplished that goal for most players as our team continues to build more resilience and toughness in competition. I was impressed with our bottom half of the lineup today as they really stepped up and competed extremely well. Gabby, Olivia, and Addie displayed the type of grit we need to be successful in the next phase of our season.
"At line 1 singles, Britany came back from 2-6, 1-4 down in her match to barely lose in the second set tiebreaker. I appreciated her leadership and ability to bear down and challenge a high-level opponent when the score was looking very dire for her. We look forward to our next match against Yale this Saturday."
