Baseball Heads to USF for Three-Game Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Coming of a win in Sunday's series finale at Memphis, the Brown baseball team will head back down south this weekend for a three game series against another American Athletic Conference opponent in USF.
All three games of the series will be livestreamed on ESPN+ with audio feeds on iHeart Radio.

SCOUTING BROWN (1-2)
- Brown won the final game of its season opening series at Memphis last weekend, its first games in nearly two calendar years.
- Making his first career start on Saturday, junior Tobey McDonough departed with the lead after firing six shutout innings while allowing just five hits and one walk and striking out eight.
- Freshman Santhosh Gottam made his collegiate debut on Sunday and picked up the win, retiring 12 batters in a row through the middle innings, leaving after 6.2 innings of work while allowing three runs on six hits.
- Junior first baseman Ryan Marra led the Bears at the plate, going 4-for-13 with a home run, which came as part of back-to-back jacks with catcher Jacob Burley on Sunday.
- Third baseman Gunner Boree reached base safely in all three games last weekend, doubling on Friday, tripling on Saturday and walking on Sunday.
SCOUTING USF (5-3)
- USF outscored Stony Brook 29-7 last weekend during a three-game sweep at home.
- The Bulls played two midweek games this week, taking down FIU at home 7-0 on Tuesday, before falling 2-1 in a pitcher's duel at North Florida on Wednesday.
- The Bulls are hitting .274 as a team this year, and are limiting opponents to a .217 batting average.
- Four players have started all eight of the team's games, and all are hitting over .300, led by redshirt sophomore infielder Carmine Lane who is posting a .469/.486/.813 slash line this season, going 15-for-32 with two homers and 12 RBIs.
- Outfielders Drew Bructher (.375/.447/.656) and Daniel Cantu (.308/.486/.615) are tied with Lane with two homers apiece, accounting for six of the Bulls' eight longballs this season.
- Friday's scheduled starter Jack Jasiak has allowed two runs over six innings in each of his two starts this season, earning a pair of no decisions against UConn and Stony Brook.
- Saturday's starter Brad Lord is off to a 2-0 start after allowing two earned runs in his two starts against Louisville and Stony Brook, walking four and striking out six over 10.1 innings.
