#6 Stony Brook bests women's lacrosse

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team fell to No. 6 Stony Brook 15-3 Tuesday evening at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Erin Tucker made 11 saves in goal to lead a Brown defense that stood tough against one of the top teams in the country.
Mia Mascone had two goals for the Bears, while Claire Jeschke had the other. Emmie Lau led Brown with five draw controls and Allison Lanzone did the same with two caused turnovers. As a team, the Bears were successful on 18 of their 20 clear attempts.
Tucker made four saves in the first quarter for Brown, three of which came on free position shots. The Seawolves were able to get two by her for a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes.
The Stony Brook offense picked up steam in the second, scoring four more to make it 7-0 before the Bears were able to break through for their first of the game. Mascone got Brown on the board with an assist from Leah Caputo with 3:12 remaining in the half, but the Seawolves added one more late to take an 8-1 lead into the half.
The Bears opened the third quarter with a free position goal by Jeschke, but the next five went to Stony Brook to make it 13-2 after three. In the fourth, Mascone added her second of the day, but the Seawolves got two more of their own to close things out.
The Bears return to Ivy League action this Sunday, March 27 at 1 p.m. when they host Dartmouth at Stevenson-Pincince.
