PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown softball was swept in its doubleheader at Princeton on Sunday (March 20). The Bears managed just one hit on the day against the Tigers' pitching staff.
PRINCETON 2, BROWN 0
Brown could not get anything going on offense in a 2-0 loss to Princeton as Princeton's Alexis Laudenslager threw a no-hitter. Brown managed just one baserunner in the loss.
Princeton scored the game's only runs in the second inning, taking advantage of an error by the Bears. After a walk, a throwing error allowed the first run to score and a groundout in the next at bat brought home the other run for the Tigers.
That was all the damage Princeton could muster against Brown's starter Lauren Innerst. Innerst allowed just one more runner to reach second base during the game and allowed just three total hits while finishing with four strikeouts.
Despite her outstanding effort, Innerst was outdone by Laudenslager who struck out ten batters. Brown finally got a baserunner in the top of the fourth as Alexis Guevara walked but a groundout ended the only threat the Bears posed during the game.
PRINCETON 7, BROWN 0
In game two of the afternoon, Brown again struggled to get the offense going as Moe Kastens finished with the only hit of the day for the Bears.
Princeton scored the first run of the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the first and tallied two more runs in the third inning.
Kastens' hit came in the top of the fourth in the inning that Brown had its best threat to score. With two outs, Katie O'Leary walked and Kastens doubled to the wall in left center field but a strikeout left runners at second and third.
Princeton doubled its lead in the fourth inning scoring runs on a wild pitch and passed ball. The Tigers then scored on a double for its sixth run of the game.
The Bears earned walks in each of the last three innings but could not get the runner around to score.
