#16 Men's Lacrosse Hosts Stony Brook Saturday at Stevenson-Pincince Field

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The 16th-ranked Brown Bears (4-1, 0-0 Ivy League) host the Stony Brook Seawolves (4-1, 0-0 AE) Saturday morning at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters Saturday with a 4-1 record with wins over Quinnipiac (Feb. 19), Vermont (Feb. 26), Villanova (Mar. 1), and Providence (Mar. 5). The Bears are 16th in the nation per the USILA Coaches Poll and 19th per the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
- Junior Devon McLane leads the Bears offensively with 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points. He ranks in the top-10 in points per game and assists per game in the NCAA. Senior Darian Cook is second on the team in scoring, and he is tied for 19th in the NCAA with 4.60 points per game.
- Matthew Gunty has taken the bulk of the faceoffs for Brown this season. He enters the weekend with a .481 win-rate (65-for-135) along with a team-leading 33 ground balls. He tallied his first career goal in the win over Providence (Mar. 5).
- Between the pipes, sophomore Connor Theriault has started four games and played in all five. He holds a .523 save percentage and a 12.14 goals against average. He has finished with 12 saves in all four of Brown's wins this season.
- Brown's man-up offense ranks second in the conference and tied for 10th in the NCAA with 10 goals in 18 attempts (.556). McLane is one of 17 players in the nation with four or more man-up goals this season.
- The Bears' man-down defense leads the Ivy League and is tied for 13th in the NCAA with five goals allowed in 20 attempts (.750).
- Stony Brook opened the season with wins over Fairfield, Robert Morris, St. John's, and LIU before most recently falling at home against fourth-ranked Rutgers by a single goal.
- The Seawolves are receiving votes in both the USILA Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
- Stony Brook's offense is potent and ranks 14th in the NCAA with 14.80 goals per game. The Seawolves are one of the top teams on clears this season, ranking 11th in the country (.893). The man-up offense has produced 11 goals in 23 attempts (.478) to rank 18th in the NCAA.
- Individually, five Seawolves have double-digit points this season, led by Dylan Pallonetti (14-10-24). Pallonetti ranks 16th in the NCAA with 4.80 points per game.
- Renz Conlon is one of the top faceoff men in the nation as he enters Saturday with a .646 win-rate (82-for-127) at the X to rank seventh in the NCAA. His 9.40 ground balls per game rank fourth in the nation.
- Between the pipes, Anthony Palma has started all five games and holds a .516 save percentage and 11.80 goals against average.
- Stony Brook's man-down defense has allowed six goals in 19 attempts to rank in the middle of the NCAA pack.
- Saturday marks the fifth meeting between Brown and Stony Brook in a series dating back to 2016.
- The series mirrors Brown's history with Villanova. The Bears and Wildcats played the fifth game in that series earlier with the road team winning the first four meetings.
- McLane was added to the 2022 Tewaaraton Award Watch List after posting 30 points in Brown's first five games. McLane joins Aughavin on the elite list.
- The Westfield, New Jersey native is seventh in the NCAA in points per game (6.00) tied for eighth in the NCAA in assists per game (2.20), and tied for 19th in the NCAA in goals per game (2.80).
- McLane was named to the USILA Team of the Week following his combined 12 points against Villanova (Mar 1) and Providence (Mar. 5). He was also named to the Ivy League Honor Roll.
- Brown has a pair of players, McLane and Aughavin, on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
- Four Ivy players, including McLane, were added to the list earlier this week, bringing the Ivy total to 11 players.
- The Bears are one of four Ivy programs with multiple players on the Watch List, joining Penn (3), Princeton (2), Yale (2).
- The seven Ivy League programs hold a combined 20-6 record to start the 2022 season.
- Four of the six combined losses have come against top-10 teams.
- Brown is 16th in the nation per the USILA Coaches Poll with four Ivy programs ahead of them: #4 Cornell, #6 Penn, #7 Princeton, and #14 Yale.
