Softball heads to Baltimore for weekend play

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball is back on the road for the weekend with six games on the schedule. The Bears will play two games at UMBC Friday (March 11) and four at Towson on Saturday (March 12) and Sunday (March 13).

SCOUTING BROWN
- Brown is coming off a 6-1 loss to Providence in its home opener on Tuesday (March 8).
- Laurel Moody hit her team-leading third home run against the Friars.
- Alexis Guevara leads the team with a .333 batting average and is tied with Kat Clum and Lauren Innerst for second on the team with eight hits.
- Leah Carey leads the team with nine hits and six stolen bases this year.
- Three pitchers (Erin Elgas, Jodie Aguirre and Guevara) have ERAs under 2.00. Elgas has not allowed a run in 5.1 innings pitched.
SCOUTING UMBC
- UMBC is 7-4 on the season and has won five-straight games coming into the weekend.
- Sierra Pierce is hitting .400 with 14 hits and seven RBI.
- The Retrievers have hit 10 home runs on the season and are hitting .297 as a team
SCOUTING HOFSTRA
- Hofstra is 2-12 on the year with wins coming against Louisville and Western Michigan.
- Chelsea Manto is the only player hitting above .300, hitting .354 with a team-high 17 hits. Manto is also 4-4 in stolen base attempts this year.

- Albany is 5-5 on the year, losing to LIU and Southern Mississippi in their last two games.
- Morgan Petty is on fire early in the season, hitting .467 with a team-lead four home runs and 12 RBI.
- Three other Great Danes are hitting over .340 this season.
SCOUTING TOWSON
- Towson is 4-12 on the season and brings a two-game winning streak into the weekend.
- Sydni Byers leads the team with a .390 batting average and 10 RBI. Byers is one of three Tigers to have two home runs this season.
SCOUTING MONMOUTH
- Monmouth is 2-12 on the year but beat Fairleigh Dickinson in its last game.
- Monmouth is hitting just .200 as a team this year and have been outscored 86-29 through 14 games.
- Lindsey Baron is hitting .366 to lead the team with 15 hits and five doubles.
