Women's water polo drops games against LIU and Wagner on Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's water polo ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard in its two matches to close out the Bruno Classic on Sunday (Feb. 6). The Bears fell to Long Island 14-12 before dropping an 8-6 matchup to Wagner.
GAME 1 – Long Island 14, Brown 12
Zoe King managed four goals and Claire Pisani scored three but the Bears were done in by an early 5-0 deficit in a loss to Long Island.
The Sharks led 5-0 after the first quarter and 6-0 overall before Sierra Martin got the Bears on the board. Brown picked up goals from Lily Weiser and King to make it 6-3 before LIU added two more goals.
Throughout the game, Brown managed to get within two multiple times but LIU had an answer until late in the fourth quarter. Down 13-10 with 1:32 left in the game, Brown got a goal from Claire Pisani and King pulled Brown within one with 36 seconds remaining but the Sharks scored a goal with 17 seconds to end any comeback for the Bears.
GAME 2 – Wagner 8, Brown 6
Lily Weiser was the leading scorer for Brown, tallying three goals as the Bears fell to Wagner 8-6.
Brown fell behind early at 3-0 but the Bears battled back with goals from Bella Godlis and Katharine Knowles. Three-straight goals from Wieser gave Brown the 5-4 lead at the half.
Brown was outscored 3-0 in the third quarter as Wagner took a two goal lead and both teams managed just one goal in the final quarter for the final margin.
UP NEXT
Brown will be off next week before heading out to California to play in the Santa Clara Spring Tournament, Feb. 19-20.
