The Bears will close out the 2021-22 season on Saturday afternoon with a matchup at No. 9 Quinnipiac at 3 p.m.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Senior Shay Maloney got the scoring going right out of the gate for Brown just 20 seconds in off the opening faceoff.
- Sophomore Anna Hurd tied the game on the power play at 8:09 of the third period.
- Megan Forrest and Cameron Sikich assisted on the opening goal for the Bears, while Lizzy Gross and Meadow Carman assisted on the tying marker.
- Forrest now has a point in nine of her last 10 games, and leads the squad with 10 assists on the season.
- Sophomore Kaley Doyle made 21 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Forrest skated the puck into the zone and threaded a pass up ahead to Maloney who went in clean through the slot and sent it past the goaltender's glove to give Brown the early 1-0 lead, which they carried into the second period.
- Princeton tied it early in the middle period on a goal by Solveig Neunzert at 2:06, and took the lead at 6:56 on a goal from Mia Coene.
- Brown rallied to tie the score with five seconds remaining on the power play when Hurd received a pass from Gross moving towards the slot and scored inside the left post to knot the score.
- In overtime, Maya Mangiafico rang one off the crossbar with just under two minutes remaining, a play that was reviewed after the final horn, but the call on the ice of no goal was upheld.
- Doyle made a huge pad save on a breakaway in the final two minutes to preserve the tie.
QUOTES FROM THE COACH: MELANIE RUZZI
- "This was a really wide-open game with scoring chances both ways. Doyle continues to make all the saves expected of her and stole three or four more tonight, including two incredible stops on uncharacteristic breakaways we gave up."
- "We made some adjustments later in the game to play into our team's strength of being on the hunt and aggressive."
- "Heading into tomorrow is bittersweet. We would love to be taking this group into the postseason but we will savor our time together and make the most of it with this final road game."
