PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brittany Raphino has been named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season, as announced by the league office Wednesday. In addition, a total of seven Bears have earned All-Ivy recognition.
For the third year in a row, Raphino has also been named to the All-Ivy First Team. Joining her, both making their second appearance on the team, are Kayla Duran and Ava Seelenfreund. Four Bears were named to the Honorable Mention All-Ivy team including Sheyenne Allen, Naya Cardoza, Jessica Hinton, and Bella Schopp.
Raphino has now won a major award in all three of her seasons at Brown, winning the last two Offensive Player of the Year honors as well as the Rookie of the Year award as a freshman in 2019. She was a unanimous selection to the all-league first team and led the Bears in both goals (9) and points (22) on the year, adding four assists as well. Raphino's 2.17 points per Ivy League contest led the conference. She is also just the second player in program history to post back-to-back 20-point seasons.
Duran, also a unanimous first team selection, has now been named to the top all-league team in both seasons as a member of the Bears. She scored once and assisted on three other goals, but her true calling card comes as the anchor of the Brown back line. In conference games this year, Duran and the Bears' defense allowed a league-low three goals, just .50 per game. Duran helped Brown post eight shutouts on the season.
Seeelnfruned is a three-time All-Ivy selection and is making her second straight appearance on the First Team. Her nine goals and 19 points on the year are both career-highs. Her four game-winning goals led the Bears and were tied for second in the Ivy League. Seelenfreund's 19 points were the fourth-most of any player in the league.
All four honorable mention honorees are making their first appearances on all-league teams.
Allen posted a career-year with one goal and six assists for eight points. Her assists and points were both career-highs, while the six assists put her at third in the conference.
Hinton, who played the majority of her minutes at outside back, was a integral member of the Bears' defense that allowed just .50 goals per Ivy League game. Hinton added two assists on the year as well.
Cardoza makes it a clean sweep for the Brown back line as all three, Cardoza, Hinton, and Duran, have earned all-league laurels. She started in all 15 games she played as a freshman and scored one goal and added one assist. The goal was the game-winner against Central Connecticut.
Schopp started eight games in goal this season, including five Ivy contests and saw playing time in all six Ivy games. She posted a 6-1-1 record on the year with a .56 goals against average and a .818 save percentage. Her .40 GAA and .857 SV% in conference action were both second in the league.
Allen was also named to the Academic All-Ivy League team.
The Bears won their third straight Ivy League title this season and will play at Rutgers in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament this Saturday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.
