Water polo splits two games on Saturday with win over Connecticut College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown split two games on Saturday, falling to Princeton to start the day before beating Connecticut College to close out the day.

The Bears staged a comeback but fell just short in the first game of the day, falling 9-8 to Princeton. Ilias Stothart and Cole Atwell each led the Bears with two goals.

Brown took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Stothart but Princeton scored the next three. Stothart added another goal later in the first quarter but Brown trailed 4-2 after one.

Filip Aleksic, Connor Enright and Atwell all scored in the second quarter for Brown but the Bears couldn't dent Princeton's lead and the Bears trailed 7-5 at halftime.

Both Brown and Princeton mustered just one goal in the third with Atwell scoring Brown's goal. In the fourth quarter, Brown cut the lead to one on a goal by Matt Simko. After Princeton scored to make it 9-7, Gabe Chang scored with just under two minutes left but Brown could not come up with the tying goal.

In the nightcap, Daniel Kristich scored six goals and Stothart tallied three as Brown scored 18 goals against Connecticut College.

UP NEXT
Brown will close out its regular season with two games on Sunday. The Bears will take on St. Francis Brooklyn at 10 a.m. and Iona at 3 p.m.
