HOW IT HAPPENED
- Princeton staked itself to a 2-0 lead with a goal at 15:24 of the first period, and another at 7:05 of the second period. The first goal came following a Brown turnover in the defensive end, eventually leading to a wrist shot by Emerson O'Leary from the edge of the right win circle. Sarah Fillier scored the second goal on a loose puck in the slot, which she sent top shelf.
- The Bears got one back just over a minute later when Hurd scored on a loose puck in front with Ciarrocchi and Sikich picking up assists.
- O'Leary answered with her second of the game to get the lead back to two at 13:02 of the second period to give the Tigers a two-goal lead through two periods.
- Williamson got Brown back within one at the 2:10 mark of the third period when she jumped on a rebound in front off a shot by Stockfish to cut the deficit to 3-2.
QUOTES FROM THE COACH: MELANIE RUZZI
- "The first period on both sides was not great hockey, and felt like that was a moment where we could have gotten off to a fast start and gotten the lead. I thought it got much better from there and we started playing to our identity in the second and third. We did a great job on the penalty kill with people selling out and doing everything they could to keep the puck out of the net."
- "I thought Cassidy Piersiak played one of her best games of the young season. I thought Abby Hancock had some good shifts as well. Our wings did a pretty good job in the defensive zone. Once we got to our identity, that grittiness came out and collectively as a team we were really strong."
- "The goals they scored were from breakdowns defensively, and that's disappointing. That's a really good hockey team we were playing against and we have to be more perfect in our defensive done."
- "If you want to score goals, you have to go hard to the net. Our goals came from putting the puck on net and attacking rebounds. It's a lesson learned for a young team trying to grow."
