Men's Hockey Hosts Holy Cross Friday; Head to #8 Providence Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's hockey welcomes the Holy Cross Crusaders (2-11-1, 2-7-1 AHA) to Meehan Auditorium for a Friday afternoon clash before renewing its in-state rivalry against the eighth-ranked Providence College Friars (8-2-3, 6-0-3 HEA) Saturday night at Schneider Arena.
Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. with Saturday's puck drop set for 7 p.m. Both games will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend looking to snap a four-game skid as they take on their first non-conference opponents of the season.
- Brown's offense is led by senior Cole Quisenberry, who is tied for the team lead in goals (2) alongside Bradley Cocca and James Crossman. Quisenberry leads the team with five points. Quisenberry and two other Bears – Ryan Bottrill and Jackson Munro – lead the team with three assists apiece.
- Sophomore goaltender Mathieu Caron has started all eight games to this point of the season. The Abbottsford, British Columbia native holds a 2.84 goals against average and .915 save percentage.
- Brown's power play has struck for four goals in 25 attempts (16.0%) to rank seventh in the ECAC and 43rd in the NCAA. Brown's penalty kill has allowed 12 goals in 44 attempts (72.7%) to rank 54th in the NCAA.
- Holy Cross enters the Thanksgiving weekend with a 2-11-1 overall record and 2-7-1 Atlantic Hockey mark.
- The Crusaders hold conference wins over AIC and Canisius. Holy Cross has lost four straight games, most recently falling 5-1 at 13th-ranked Merrimack (Nov. 22).
- Offensively, Liam McLinskey and Jack Ricketts lead the Crusaders with five goals apiece. Ricketts leads the team with nine points and Devin Phillips leads the team in assists (5).
- 17 Crusaders have multiple points through 14 games this season.
- Holy Cross has struggled defensively and rank in the bottom-10 of the NCAA with 3.87 goals against per game. Thomas Gale has made nine starts between the pipes to hold a .900 save percentage and 2.73 goals against average.
- The Crusader power play has four goals in 56 attempts (7.1%) to rank near the bottom of the NCAA. The Crusader penalty kill has allowed 16 goals in 63 attempts (74.4%) to rank near the bottom of the NCAA.
- Brown and Holy Cross meet for the 14th time in series history Friday in Providence.
- Brown holds a 6-7-0 all-time record against Holy Cross and a 4-2-0 record at home.
- Providence College enters the weekend with a 8-2-3 overall record and 6-0-3 Hockey East mark.
- The Friars are the eighth-ranked team in the nation per the USCHO.com and the USA Today/USA Hockey polls. Both of PC's losses came at fourth-ranked Denver.
- The Friars enter the weekend with an eight-game unbeaten streak and a 5-0-3 record in the stretch, most recently sweeping Vermont at Schneider Arena.
- Riley Duran leads the Friars with seven goals and is tied for second on the team with 10 points.
- Sophomore Brett Berard is tied for the team-lead in assists (9) and leads PC in points (15).
- Senior captain Max Crozier leads Friar defensemen with nine assists and 10 points.
- Freshman Phillip Svedebäck has made 11 starts between the pipes and holds a 2.48 goals against average and .896 save percentage.
- PC's power play clicks at 24.0% (12-50) to rank second in Hockey East and tied for 12th in the NCAA. PC's penalty kill ranks sixth in Hockey East and 35th in the NCAA at 79.5% (35-44).
- Saturday night marks the 106th meeting between Brown and Providence in a series dating back to 1927. Saturday marks the 36th iteration of the Mayor's Cup.
- Providence holds the all-time series edge, 55-47-3, and have won six straight in the series.
SUTTON'S SHORTY
- Junior Matt Sutton struck for a short-handed goal at Cornell (Nov. 19), marking the 21st straight season the Bears have recorded at least one man-down goal.
