Men’s Water Polo Dominates in 20-7 NWPC Opening Round Victory

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A seven-goal third period highlighted a 20-7 Northeast Water Polo Conference Championship win for Brown (16-14) over Iona (10-18) Friday afternoon at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. With the opening-round victory, the Bears advance to take on top-ranked Princeton tomorrow at 12 p.m.

"The 4v5 game is always a mental test, and I am glad we responded defensively," said Felix Mercado, Head Coaching Chair for Water Polo. "We showed patience offensively and really played close to mistake-free water polo. We will need that and more against Princeton tomorrow. I know the team will be ready."
Kole Newman registered eight saves and Ilias Stothart led all with six goals.
The Bears took a 9-2 lead into the halftime break and extended their lead to 16-3 after three.
