Men's Hockey Hosts #5 Quinnipiac Friday; Princeton Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (1-2-1, 1-2-1 ECAC) return to the friendly confines of Meehan Auditorium to host the fifth-ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats (5-1-2, 2-0-0 ECAC) on Friday before welcoming the Princeton Tigers (0-3-0, 0-3-0 ECAC) on Saturday.
Both games are set to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the third weekend of the season with a 1-2-1 overall record. After four conference games, Brown has four league points to sit sixth in the standings.
- Four Bears have recorded two points to this point of the season to lead the team. Bradley Cocca, Nathan Plessis, and Cole Quisenberry each have a goal and assist while sophomore Matt Sutton has two assists. Ten other Bears have a point through four games.
- Sophomore goaltender Mathieu Caron has started all four games for Brown to this point. Caron holds a 2.45 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. Brown is tied for third in the ECAC and 21st in the NCAA in scoring defense.
- Brown's power play has struck for two goals on 16 attempts with the team holding a 1-0-1 record when scoring on the power play.
- The Bears have averaged 13.0 penalty minutes per game – the 11th-most in the NCAA. Opponents have cashed in for seven power play goals in 26 attempts. In 5-on-5 gameplay, Brown is outscoring opponents 4-2 with shots even at 77-77. On special teams, Brown has been outscored 8-2 with the opponents holding a 42-18 edge in shots.
- Quinnipiac enters the weekend with a 5-1-2 overall record and 2-0-0 ECAC mark. The Bobcats are the fifth-ranked team in the nation per the USCHO.com and USA Today polls.
- The Bobcats roster features seven graduate students and four transfer students. The seven graduate students have combined to play in 966 career NCAA games. For context, Brown's entire roster has combined to play in 756 NCAA games.
- Jacob Quillan leads the Bobcats in assists (5) and points (9). He is tied with Ethan de Jong with a team-leading four goals.
- Quinnipiac's offense averages 4.50 goals per game to rank second in the ECAC and 17 Bobcats have recorded two or more points this season.
- The Bobcats are anchored defensively by sophomore goaltender Yaniv Perets. In eight games this season, Perets holds a .913 save percentage and 2.11 goals against average.
- Quinnipiac's power play clicks at 18.9% to rank in the middle of the ECAC pack. The Bobcat penalty kill sits at 81.2% for the year to rank fourth in the ECAC.
- Friday marks the 45th meeting between Brown and Quinnipiac in a series dating back to 2006.
- The Bobcats hold the all-time series edge, 27-10-7, and hold a 8-4-4 record at Meehan Auditorium.
- Brown assistant coach Matt Plante faces his alma mater for the first time Friday night.
- Plante played under Quinnipiac bench boss Rand Pecknold from 1998-2002, helping the Bobcats capture the 2002 MAAC Championship.
- Plante also played alongside Quinnipiac goalie coach Justin Eddy for two seasons in Hamden.
- Princeton enters the weekend in search of their first win of the season. The Tigers hold a 0-3-0 mark after losses to Harvard, Cornell, and Colgate.
- Jack Cronin and Brendan Gormley lead the Tigers with two goals apiece through three games. Pito Walton is tied for the team-lead with two assists and leads the team with three points.
- Seven different Tigers have recorded points this season with five Tigers recorded multiple points.
- Princeton has struggled defensively to start and enter the weekend with 3.67 goals against per game, tied for the worst in the ECAC.
- Between the pipes, Aidan Porter has made two starts and holds a 3.97 goals against average and .862 save percentage. Ethan Pearson, a Mount St. Charles product, started against Cornell and holds a 2.01 goals against average and .944 save percentage.
- Princeton's power play has found success through three games with three goals on 10 attempts. The 30.0% success-rate ranks second in the ECAC and seventh in the NCAA.
- On the other side of the coin, Princeton's penalty kill has allowed five goals in 15 attempts (66.7%) to rank last in the NCAA.
- Saturday night marks the 179th meeting between Brown and Princeton in a series dating back to 1900.
- Brown holds the all-time series edge with a 92-74-12 overall record and a 41-39-8 home record. At Meehan Auditorium, the Bears are 40-35-4.
- The Bears are 14-14-4 against Princeton under head coach Brendan Whittet.
- Brown and Princeton have skated in 13 straight games since the last tie in the series.
- The last tie came on February 4, 2017 in Providence by a 3-3 final score.
- It marked the second straight tie in the series as the teams skated to a 2-2 tie on February 27, 2016 in New Jersey.
