INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The victory marked Brown's first win over a ranked opponent since taking down No. 6 Cornell on Nov. 3, 2018.
- The Bears four wins in ECAC play are its most conference victories since the 2016-17 season.
- The win moves Brown to 62-25-3 all-time against Yale and snaps an 11-game losing skid to the Bulldogs.
- Sophomore Maya Mangiafico, senior Shay Maloney, sophomore Madie Stockfish and sophomore Anna Gallagher all registered two points apiece.
- Freshman Cameron Sikich scored what proved to be the game-winning goal on a top shelf wrist shot at 15:12 the second period.
- Tina Paolillo and Megan Forrest also added assists.
- Yale was 1-for-4 on the power play, while Brown went 1-for-3 with the man-advantage thanks to an insurance goal by Maloney early in the third period.
- Doyle stopped 31 of the 32 shots she faced in the game, and now holds a .954 save percentage over her last five games.
- Yale outshot Brown 32-17, while the Bears held a 31-25 edge in the faceoff circle.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brown jumped on the scoreboard first in the final minute of the opening period, when Paolillo was stopped on a breakaway attempt, but Stockfish pounced on the puck behind the net, sent it in front to Mangiafico, who crashed the net and shoved it past the goaltender to give the Bears the lead at 19:51.
- Yale took advantage of the power play and evened the game 1-1 at 5:05 of the second period on a goal by Vita Poniatovskaia.
- Brown regained the lead before the end of the period when Sikich took control of a faceoff in the neutral zone, skated in and sent a hard wrist shot top shelf over the glove at 15:12 to give Bruno the lead they would not relinquish.
- Maloney's cashed in on the power play with a big insurance goal on a one-timer from the left wing circle that gave Brown its first multi-goal lead of the season at 5:48 of the third period.
- Stockfish delivered the knockout blow with 33.8 seconds remaining, taking a pass across the ice from Maloney and sending into the empty net.
- "We've been building towards this. Last week, we played Colgate who is also nationally ranked, and we played them very close. We know that we're capable of this, we just have to play a really solid game, and that's what we did today. This gives them more belief that they are capable."
- "Our defenders were boxing out in front of the net, picking up sticks, and there were no second attempts at pucks, our wings were blocking shots, and at the end of the day we have a great goaltender. Kaley Doyle gives us a ton of confidence. She made some huge saves and it's all six players on the ice working together and finding a way."
- "Yale is a really stifling team defensively. We knew we had to work hard. The power play goal was huge. That really gave us confidence because we've been struggling on the power play. On the first goal of the game, we had to fight our tails off, getting stopped on the breakaway with a great save, we came back and picked up the puck and jammed it in there. It wasn't pretty but that is how you have to beat teams like this, you have to grind."
