"I am excited to have the opportunity to work with this outstanding leadership group," said head coach Brendan Whittet. "They are very good players but just as important they are extremely hard workers who are determined to lead by example daily."
Crozier, a native of Calgary, Alberta, was elected captain prior to the now-canceled 2020-21 season and will serve as captain in 2021-22. The forward has skated in 53 career games for the Bears with six goals and 19 assists.
Kania returns to Brown as a graduate student this season and one of two goaltenders on the roster with experience at the collegiate level. Kania has played in 41 career games for Bruno, 39 of which he started. He holds a 3.01 career goals against average along with a career .906 save percentage.
Kania is the first Brown netminder to wear a letter since Chris Harvey '90 served as assistant captain in the 1989-90 season.
Krys enters his junior season as a defenseman for the Bears. In his first season in 2019-20, Krys skated in 31 games with four goals and five assists.
Jallen enters his senior season in 2021-22 and his first with a letter. The St. Paul, Minnesota native has 64 career games played for the Bears with 17 goals and 25 career points.
Maloney rounds out the leadership group, the senior forward has played in 65 career games with 15 career points.
"They have a sense of purpose, do everything right and are driven to make this season a memorable one for our program and for Brown University," Whittet added.
Brown begins the 2021-22 campaign at Meehan Auditorium against the Yale Bulldogs on Saturday, October 30. The season-opener marks the 189th meeting between Brown and Yale in a series that dates back to 1898, one of the oldest in college hockey.
On October 20, Whittet announced that Luke Krys, Justin Jallen, and Michael Mahoney will also serve as assistant captains.
