NEW HAVEN, CONN. – The Brown women's tennis team completed competition at the Bulldog Invitational this Sunday, Sept. 26 at Yale. The three-day event saw the Bears take on Hofstra, Quinnipiac, and Yale.
"Overall, I was happy with the level of engagement and competitiveness our players brought over the past three days," head coach Lucie Schmidhauser said. "We need to continue working on execution under pressure and having confidence to implement the winning game style when it matters the most.
"The competition got tougher as the weekend went on and today's match against Yale really showed us the areas of needed improvement. I was proud of the players' grittiness as every single one battled until the last point of the match, really challenging a very solid Yale team. We will continue to grow from these experiences and I hope our team is willing to put in the work necessary to not only challenge teams like Yale, but put themselves in the position of closing out matches successfully."
Full team scores were not kept at the event, but over the three days Lindsey Hofflander led the way for the Bears going 3-0 in singles competition. Britany Lau and Ryan Peus each went 2-1.
In doubles action, Peus and Ali Benedetto teamed up to go 2-1, while Hofflander and Selena Williams went 2-0.
The Bears are next in action on Friday, Oct. 1 at the ITA East Regional in West Point, N.Y.
