Brown Set for Friday Night Battle at Harvard in Ivy League Opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Primed to kick off Ivy League play, the Brown football team will head to Harvard for a Friday night matchup under the lights against the Crimson. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Harvard Stadium and will be televised nationally on ESPNU and WatchESPN, with a radio broadcast available on AM 790 WPRV in Providence.
The Bears are coming off a 45-24 season-opening loss to Rhode Island last weekend, while Harvard opened with a 44-9 win at Georgetown.
OPENING KICKOFF
• Both Brown and Harvard turned in strong offensive performances in their season openers, with the Bears totaling 534 yards of offense and Harvard gaining 452 yards.
• Most of Harvard's damage came on the ground with 335 yards rushing, while Brown collected 344 yards through the air.
• Friday marks the 21st consecutive year the Crimson and Bears have met to open up Ivy League play.
SCOUTING BROWN
• Brown had ten different players grab at least one reception in its season opener against URI.
• Hayes Sutton (7 rec./78 yds) and Wes Rockett (8 rec./75 yds.) each scored their first career touchdowns.
• Zachary Targoff had two catches for 40 yards and Allan Houston III caught six passes for 39 yards. Four other receivers all had 20+ yards receiving.
• Allen Smith led all players in the season-opener with a game-high 65 yards rushing and one TD.
• Freshman Jordan DeLucia ran for 41 yards in his collegiate debut.
• Senior quarterback EJ Perry completed 61 percent of his passes, going 37-for 61 for 344 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 59 yards.
• Linebacker Jason Medeiros, linebacker Isaiah Gamble and cornerback Cooper DeVeau each picked up one sack against URI.
• Senior defensive back Clayton Perrin came away with his first career interception.
SCOUTING HARVARD
• Harvard held a 20-9 lead after the first quarter and outscored the Hoyas 24-0 the rest of the way.
• Aaron Shampklin rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns on just 14 attempts. Shampklin averaged 13.1 yards per carry, with his longest rush of the day at 59 yards.
• Aidan Borguet carried for 85 yards on seven carries and a touchdown, averaging 12.1 yards per carry, with had a long of 56 yards.
• In total, Harvard rushed for 353 yards on 40 carries and four scores, averaging 8.4 yards per carry.
• Through the air, Charlie Dean led the team with 94 yards and two scores, going 10-for-19.
• Harvard's defense was stingy against the run, allowing just six total yards to Georgetown's rush offense on 31 carries.
• Jack McGowan led the defense with seven tackles and five other players finished with five total tackles in the game.
• Nate Leskovec and Jacob Sykes dominated in Georgetown's backfield, with each player picking up two sacks. The Crimson finished with six sacks in total.
