Men's soccer prepares for Providence, Siena

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's soccer team will play two more nonconference opponents this week before beginning Ivy League action next weekend. The Bears will take on Providence at home this Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. and Siena on the road this Saturday, Sept. 25 at 3:30 p.m.
Brown will look to create some positive results before conference play starts after dropping its previous two games. The Friars and Saints present some tough competition as Providence sits at 4-1-1 on the year and Siena at 3-3-0.
Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+. For Wednesday's contest, fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets online at BrownBears.com/tickets prior to their arrival at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Brown Athletics has moved to completely contactless ticketing, so fans should either download their digital tickets to display on a mobile device or print them at home prior to arrival.

Scouting the Bears (2-3-0):
- Brown has continued to spread its offense around this season with Will Crain picking up his first goal of the year last week against URI, while Derek Waleffe remains the only Bear to have scored more than once as he recorded his third of the season on a penalty kick against St. Francis Brooklyn.
- Since 2010, the Bears are 3-5-2 against Providence with six of the ten games going to overtime.
- Brown has only faced Siena once in program history, a 2-1 Saints victory back in 2014.
- After an early September loss to No. 14 New Hampshire, the Friars are unbeaten in their last three games, going 2-0-1 in that span.
- On the year, Brendan McSorley and Davis Smith are tied for the team lead of nine points. McSorley has posted four goals and one assist, while Davis has three goals and three assists.
- Lukas Burns has started all six games in goal for the Friars, posting a 1.01 goals against average and a .769 save percentage.
- Siena beat Merrimack 2-1 its last time out, but the week prior took a 5-0 drubbing from Army West Point.
- The Saints' three wins this year have come against teams with a combined record of 2-13-5. The teams who have beaten them own a 10-9-2 mark.
- Siena has scored six goals in it six games with Jacob Pacheco leading the way with two. Jacob Arachchige-Jensen leads the team with five points, all from assists.
