PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's soccer team fell to No. 24 Providence 3-0 Wednesday evening at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Tied at zero at the half, three second-half goals gave the Friars the victory.
"I was really pleased with our performance during the first 45 minutes," head coach Patrick Laughlin said. "I think another lesson for us as we continue to grow as a group and as a team is we've got to be able to bring it for 90 minutes against a top-level opponent. But I am really proud of the first half the guys put in. Their effort was, once again, next level."
During the first half there was a total of only six shots combined from both sides and only one on goal. The Bears did manage two corners in the first 45, but those were their best chances of the half.
Providence broke the scoreless tie in the 51st minute when Ramzi Qawasmy headed in a corner from Luis Garcia.
The Bears put some pressure on in the second, generating four shots and putting two on goal, but weren't able to finish anything off.
Providence added two more goals in the 79th and 81st minutes to put the game out of reach.
On the night, the Friars outshot the Bears 14-5, but only earned one corner to Brown's three.
The Bears will be back at it on Saturday at Siena for a 3:30 p.m. matchup.
