Offense explodes as men's soccer tops Niagara

The Bears turned the pressure on from the opening minutes and didn't let up for the full 90. The five goals were their most in a game since Sept. 27, 2013 in a 5-0 victory over Marist.
"It was a great response tonight after a challenging game on Wednesday," head coach Patrick Laughlin said. "I'm happy for the guys to bounce back like they did and come out here and really perform consistently for the full game.
"I'm happy we had the chance to get a lot of guys some minutes. We were able to get guys into their first competitive game tonight so that was great."
Paul Elliott started his four-point performance in the seventh minute when he scored his first collegiate goal from 20 yards out after Niagara failed to clear a corner. He would add two assists on the third and fourth goals of the game.
Dennis Pyetsukh made it 2-0 when Derek Waleffe fed him a beautiful ball through the center of the defense. Pyetsukh made one move around the goalie and had a wide-open net to easily slide the ball into.
Zak Lawal followed it up with a nice play of his own in the 43rd minute, firing a laser from the right side of the box to cap the three-goal half.
Brown picked up where it left off in the second with a goal from Kojo Dadzie in the 48th minute. Dadzie ran onto a ball from Elliott, beat a defender just inside the 18, and found the bottom right corner of the net.
Alex Mina scored the Bear's fifth and final goal of the night after Dadzie headed him a ball and Mina brought it into the box and beat the goalie low to the left.
Niagara got one back in the 66th minute, but it was far too little, far too late to get back into it.
Maxwell Waldau made six saves in goal for the Bears.
Brown returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 15 with a 7 p.m. matchup at the University of Rhode Island.
