Women’s Hockey Heads to Holy Cross for Friday Clash

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After an eight-day layoff, the Brown women's hockey team will head to Worcester on Friday evening to take on Holy Cross in their final non-conference game of the year, and their last competition of the 2021 calendar year. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.

After a break for final exams and the holidays, the Bears will reopen ECAC play on Friday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. against RPI at Meehan Auditorium, and will host Union on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 3 p.m.
SCOUTING BROWN: 1-11-2, (1-6-1 ECAC)
- The Bears are coming off a tough 4-3 defeat at Saint Anselm in their last game on December 2, a game in which they put a season-high 40 shots on goal and allowed a season-low 22 shots on target.
- The Bears are averaging 1.6 goals per contest this season, and allowing 3.5 goals per game. This compares to 1.1 goals per game and 4.1 allowed per contest during the most recent completed season of 2019-20.
- Freshman defenseman Meadow Carman scored her first career goal for the Bears, and senior center Shay Maloney scored for the second straight game and leads the squad with six goals this season.
- Sophomore Cassidy Piersiak added her team-leading fifth assist in the game.
- Brown has topped the 30-shot mark twice this season, both of which have come in their last three games: 31 vs. Merrimack (11/24) and 40 at Saint Anselm (12/2).
- Holy Cross will be looking to snap a losing skid, having dropped their last four games by a combined margin of 15-4.
- Holy Cross is averaging 1.3 goals per game, and is allowing 3.8 goals per contest this season, while going 2-for-55 on the power play.
- The Crusaders have defeated Franklin Pierce this season, and split a home-and-home series with Boston University.
- Junior forward Darci Johal leads the squad with six goals this season, and is tied with junior forward Mary Edmonds (2g, 4a) for the team lead with six points.
- Millie Sirum and Bryn Saarela add three goals apiece.
