PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Kayla Duran and Brittany Raphino of the the Brown women's soccer team have been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team, as announced by the association Tuesday.
Raphino, the 2021 Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year, has been named to All-Region First Team for the second time in her career after being honored similarly after her freshman season. The junior had a career-year with 11 goals, six assists, and 28 points. Her goals and points were Ivy League-bests and her assists were tied for fourth in the conference. On the year, Raphino had four game-winning goals, tying her for second in the Ivy League.
This is Duran's, the 2021 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, first time being honored as an all-region selection. The junior transfer from Boston College was a rock on the Brown back line all season long and was a major reason the Bears' defense allowed only .57 goals per game in conference action. Duran added one goal and four assists for six points on the offensive side including the game-winning goal against Princeton.
The Bears, led by Raphino and Duran, won their second straight Ivy League title in 2021 and made their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
