Men's basketball opens Paradise Jam against Creighton

ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Brown men's basketball team will begin play at the 2021 Paradise Jam this Friday, Nov. 19 against Creighton at 4:15 p.m.
The Paradise Jam is an eight-team tournament played in St. Thomas on the U.S. Virgin Islands. Outside of Brown and Creighton, other teams in attendance include Bradley, Colorado State, Northeastern, Duquesne, Southern Illinois, and Colorado.
Brown and Creighton will face off in the second quarterfinal game with the winner going on to face the winner of Bradley vs. Colorado State. The loser between the Bears and Bluejays will take on the loser of Bradley and Colorado State.
On the other side of the bracket, Northeastern and Duquesne face off in one quarterfinal, while Southern Illinois and Colorado are in the other. The semifinals on the winners' side will take place on Nov. 21, with the losers playing on Nov. 20. The final game on both sides of the bracket will be played on Nov. 22.
Scouting the Bears (3-1, 0-0 IVY):

Scouting the Bears (3-1, 0-0 IVY):
- Brown is coming off a convincing 98-47 win over Johnson & Wales on Tuesday night. Jaylan Gainey led the team with 19 points, a season-high to this point, while Malachi Ndur had a team-high eight rebounds and Dan Friday led the squad with six assists.
- On the season, Kino Lilly Jr. has been off to a fast start, leading the team with 13.3 points per game and shooting 60% from the field and 57.1% from three.
- So far on the young campaign, Brown is first among Ivy League teams averaging 87.3 points per game. The Bears are also outscoring their opponents by the widest margin with their 64.3 points allowed per game (third among Ivies) leading to a 23.0 scoring margin. Princeton is second at 20.5.
- Creighton is 3-0 on the season with victories against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (90-77), Kennesaw State (51-44), and Nebraska (77-69).
- Ryan Nembhard leads the Bluejays with 16 points per game, with Alex O'Connell just behind at 15.3.
- Ryan Hawkins is currently averaging a double-double with 12.3 points and 10.3 rebounds. Nembhard leads the team in assists, while O'Connell does the same in steals.
- Brown is 1-0 all-time against Creighton, claiming the 80-79 victory back in 1991 in the only ever meeting between the two sides.
- Rick Llyod had the buzzer-beating two-pointer in that one to give Brown the win. Chuck Savage led the Bears with 23 points.
