PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's soccer senior goalkeeper Kayla Thompson has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday.
Thompson led the Bears' defense to a 2-0 shutout win over Columbia Saturday in New York. After facing zero shots on goal in the first half, Thompson came up huge in the second half making five saves, including a penalty kick save which would have tied the game at one.
This is Thompson's third Ivy League weekly award of her career, and first this season, with the last coming during the 2019 campaign.
Brown has now won two Player of the Week awards in a row with Brittany Raphino taking home the honor last week. Lexi Quinn was also named Rookie of the Week on Sept. 7.
The Bears will continue conference action this Saturday, Oct. 9 when they welcome Princeton to Stevenson-Pincince Field for a 3 p.m. matchup.
