
Women's Rugby Falls to Dartmouth on Senior Day at Marvel Field

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's rugby team closed out the 2021 home slate today against unbeaten Dartmouth, falling 47-5 at Marvel Field.
Dartmouth moves to 7-0-0 on the season while Brown drops to 3-2-1.
"We played a hard-fought game against tough opponents and improved on things we have been working on in practice," said senior Lexi Nelson. "We are proud of the way we showed up for each other in this difficult time, and want to continue to honor Kathy by playing the best way she taught us."
After 10 minutes of scoreless action, The Big Green put the first points on the board with a try and conversion with 29:30 remaining in the first half.
Dartmouth added two more tries and conversions over the next 10 minutes to push its lead to 21-0.
With 13:27 to play in the half, captain Olivia Duba broke through for a try to put the Bears on the board.
Dartmouth's Nyah Cordero added another try with a successful Big Green conversion in the final minutes of the half to take a 28-5 lead into the break.
Abbey Savin broke through at the midpoint of the second half to make it 35-5 Dartmouth with the successful conversion. The Big Green went on to add two more tries and one conversion to push the final score to 47-5.
Following the game, Brown honored its 10 seniors and one graduate student, who all played in their final game at Marvel Field.
Brown closes out the regular season next Saturday (Nov. 6) at Mount St. Mary's, a game rescheduled from Saturday, September 11. Saturday's game against the Mountaineers is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
