Women's Rugby Earns Pair of Victories at Ivy 7s

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brown women's rugby team (15-10) competed in the Ivy 7s Tournament on Saturday, with wins over Princeton's A and B teams. The tournament was hosted by Harvard.
Harvard A def. Brown A, 31-0:
In their first match, the Bears faced Harvard A Team and were defeated 31-0.
Dartmouth B def. Brown B, 17-10:
The Bears fought hard in the second match of the day, dominating the scoresheet in the first half. However, it was the second-half push that led the Big Greem to a 17-10 victory. Lauren Huang made a try, and Caitlin Moroney completed the conversion.

Continuing the competition, the Bears' A team fell to Dartmouth A in their third contest, 25-0.

Harvard B def. Brown B, 29-18:
The Bears fought back against the Harvard Crimson but ultimately fell, 28-19. Harvard scored the first try and conversion in the first minute. The Bears responded with Sophie Dornstein making the try, and Naomi Van Zandt completed the conversion. Harvard scored again to take a 7-point lead, but Brown tied it up again at six minutes. Asha Davis made the try, and Naomi Van Zandt completed her second conversion of the game. The Crimson scored again to close the first half, 21-14. After the Crimson received a yellow card, Priscilla Maalouf scored her first try of the day, shortening Harvard's lead to 21-19. In the end, Harvard completed another try and conversion to take the match.

The Brown A Team earned its first win of the day against Princeton's A Team, 38-5. Olivia Baptiste scored three tries, Laryssa Barbosa added two, and Lily Nowak scored one. Julia Murray completed four conversions. Although the Bears dominated the scoring, Princeton notched its first try to avoid a shutout.

The Brown B Team also dominated their match against Princeton's B Team. Sophie Dornstein scored in the first minute, then Asha Davis and Adrienne Walby added tries to close out the first half. In the opening 30 seconds of the second half, Lauren Huang scored, and three and a half minutes later, Caitlin Moroney added another try. The Tigers responded, narrowing the Bears' lead to 20, but Imani Moneyang quickly answered with a try, and Caitlin Moroney completed the conversion to end the match.
