
Track & Field Heads to Ithaca for Ivy League Championships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's and women's track & field teams will compete in the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track & Field Championships this Saturday, Feb. 29 and Sunday, March 1 at Barton Hall in Ithaca, N.Y. Events are scheduled to start Saturday morning at 11 AM.

Brown at a Glance
The men's team placed fifth at the 2019 indoor championships, while Princeton claimed the Ivy title. Bretram Rogers broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles earlier this season and will look to capture an Ivy title in the event after taking bronze last winter. Calvin Perkins owns the second-best time in the 500 meters heading into Heps and was runner-up in the event as a rookie last season.

Cameron Daly leads the distance group after a record-breaking performance in the 5,000 meters (14:00.31) at the BU Terrier Classic. In the field, Zachary Love, Nigel Despinasse and Michael Coppolino own top-five marks among Ivy participants in the long jump, shot put and weight throw, respectively.

The women's side placed sixth at Heps last season and Penn won the team championship. May Stern and Ijeoma Uche both return to defend their individual Ivy titles in the 400 meters and long jump, respectively. Gracie Whelan and Stern rank third and fourth among Ivy runners in the 400 meters this season, while Uche owns the top mark in the long jump after she recently broke her own school record with a leap of 20-6.5.

Zion Lewis is ranked third in the triple jump heading into the weekend and rookie Lily Dumas will look to contend in the pentathlon after she totaled 3,534 points at the New England Championships.
