Stony Brook, N.Y. – Caleb Pearson scored his fourth goal of the game with 31 seconds remaining in overtime to lead Stony Brook to an 11-10 men's lacrosse win over Brown Saturday afternoon at LaValle Stadium.
In overtime, Stony Brook won the face-off and each team had multiple opportunities to end the game. Bears' All-American goalie Phil Goss (San Francisco, CA) made the lone save in overtime with 50 seconds remaining before Pearson scored the game-winner.
"The team played hard and I'm proud of our effort," said Brown head coach Mike Daly. "We controlled a lot of the pace of the game, but we just didn't make enough plays, which is a reflection of coaching."
Brown senior Luke McCaleb (Chevy Chase, MD) and junior George Grell (Short Hills, NJ) scored three goals each to pace the Bears.
Bears' senior Jack Kniffin (Darien, CT) and sophomore Reed Moshyedi (Potomac, MD) added two goals each, with Kniffing picking up five ground balls.
Overall, the Bears out-shot the Seawolves by a 61-41 margin. Goss registered 12 saves in goal for the Bears, but Stony Brook goalie Michael Bollinger made 22 saves

Pearson's four goals came on seven shots to pace the Seawolves.
The Seawolves held a 4-2 lead after one quarter, coming back from an early 2-0 deficit. McCaleb scored two goals and Grell added another for the Bears.
The pace of play slowed down considerably in the second quarter with Moshyedi tying the game, 4-4, and Kniffin giving the Bears a 5-4 lead at the half.
While the sea-saw battle continued throughout, Brown never relinquished its lead until late in the fourth quarter.

Three unanswered fourth quarter goals by the Seawolves, the last by Devin O'Leary, gave Stony Brook a 10-9 lead with 2:44 remaining.
McCaleb scored his third goal of the game for the Bears with 1:23 remaining for a 10-10 tie, sending the game into overtime
Brown returns home next Saturday afternoon, February 29, for a match-up with cross-town rival Providence College at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Face-off is 3:30pm on ESPN+.
