
Women’s Hockey Defeated by No. 6 Princeton, 5-1

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by No. 6 Princeton, 5-1, on Friday night at Hobey Baker Rink. Four of the game's six goals were power-play tallies with senior Maybelline Beiring (Calumet, Mich.) adding the Bears' power-play score.
Sophomore Hayley Kliczko (Niles, Ill.) concluded the contest with a career-high 51 saves, including 22 in the second period. Princeton (21-5-1, 15-4-1 ECAC) scored once in the first and twice in both the second and third for the win. Carly Bullock led the Tigers with a hat trick.
Despite 16 saves from Kliczko in the first 20 minutes of action, Princeton led 1-0 with the help of a power-play goal at 13:12 by Sylvie Wallin. The Tigers were 1-for-2 on the power play while not committing an infraction of their own in the stanza.
Princeton added its second score of the night 1:37 into the second period from Maggie Connors for a 2-0 advantage. Brown (3-22-3, 2-17-2 ECAC) received a power-play goal by Beiring to pull within one (2-1) at 10:57. Senior Veronica Alois (Andover, Mass.) found Beiring in the slot from behind the net and Beiring buried the slapshot for her second of the season.
Carly Bullock closed the second period with her first of the night at 15:27. Brown wrapped up the second 1-for-2 on the power play and fought off its only infraction. Kliczko turned away 22 shots in the frame, three of which were on the penalty kill.
Bullock added two unanswered power-play goals in the third period at 8:35 and 14:51, respectively, for the final of 5-1. The third ended with Princeton 2-for-2 on the power-play and the Bears 0-for-2. Overall, the Tigers were 3-for-5 on the power play while Brown was 1-for-4.
Stephanie Neatby concluded the night with 10 saves in the Princeton net.
Brown closes out its season tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 22) at No. 10 Quinnipiac in a 3:00 p.m. contest.
