
Women’s Hockey Drops 6-2 Decision to Colgate

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by Colgate, 6-2, in its home finale for the season on Saturday at Meehan Auditorium. Sophomore Tina Paolillo (East Haven, Conn.) and junior Megan Forrest (Enfield, Nova Scotia) did the scoring for the Bears in the second and third period, respectively.
Prior to the game, seniors Veronica Alois (Andover, Mass.), Maybelline Beiring (Calumet, Mich.), Calla Isaac (Sherwood Park, Alberta) and Lucinda Quigley (Newton, Mass.) were honored for their contributions over their four years.
Colgate (15-13-6, 9-8-3 ECAC) upped its goal total in each period with Tanner Gates leading the way with a goal and two assists.
Maggie MacEachern broke the scoreless game at 7:50 of the first with a power-play goal for a 1-0 lead for the visitor. Each team had a power-play opportunity with the Raiders capitalizing on their chance.
Colgate took a 3-0 advantage on scores by Eleri MacKay (2:22) and Kaitlyn O'Donohoe (3:19) to begin the second before Paolillo took a pass from sophomore Lizzy Gross (Scarborough, Maine) in front of the crease and lit the lamp for the sixth time this season to move Brown (3-21-3, 2-16-2 ECAC) within two, 3-1.
Gates would bring the contest to 4-1 with a tally at 12:25 of the third before Forrest picked off a pass at the left faceoff circle and five-holed Colgate's Liz Auby to bring the game to 4-2.
The Raiders would put a stop to the Bears' momentum as Coralie Larose (18:24) and Noemi Neubauerova (19:12) added late period tallies.
Overall, the Raiders went 1-for-2 on the power-play while the Bears were 0-for-1.
Isaac finished the day with 34 saves in net, her 16th game this season with 30 or more saves, while Auby made 10 stops at the other end.
Alois, Gross and sophomore Shay Maloney (McHenry, Ill.) led Brown in shooting, logging three shots apiece on goal.
Brown next closes out the season on the road at No. 5 Princeton on Friday, Feb. 21 (6:00 p.m.) and at Quinnipiac on Saturday, Feb. 22 (3:00 p.m.).
