Bruno Catch Up: Star White, Women's Soccer
Brown University athletics will be recognizing its fall senior student-athletes who have had their season put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Senior student-athletes will be featured during the week on Brownbears.com and various social media platforms.
Name: Star White
Hometown: Norfolk, Va.
Sport: Women's Soccer
Concentration: Economics
Accolades: Named Honorable Mention All-Ivy in 2019 ... Selected Second Team All-Ivy in 2018 ... Earned Second Team All-Ivy honors in 2017.
Plans after graduation:
After I graduate from Brown, my plan is to work for a consulting company for 1-2 years to gain professional work experience and then attend Law School. I hope to obtain a law degree and start my legal career at a firm of my choice. I also look forward to supporting the Brown women's soccer program in the future by attending games and staying connected with the team as an alumna.
Favorite experience as a Brown student-athlete:
It's extremely hard to choose my favorite experience as a Brown student-athlete when there are so many. However, I'd have to say that our first game in the NCAA Tournament against
Monmouth, at home, was an unbelievable experience. The excitement and support that I felt
from the Brown community was palpable during the game. The stands were more packed than I
had ever seen before and the crowd was amazing. I felt proud to be representing Brown on the soccer field, and it was an awesome feeling.
The best part of being on your team is:
The best part of being on my team is that we're truly like a family. I have developed lifelong
relationships and gained countless bonding experiences with my teammates and coaching staff.
It's been such a blessing to get to know all of these amazing people throughout my four years at
Brown. The camaraderie on our team is incomparable and I will be forever grateful that I was a
part of the Brown women's soccer legacy.
Most memorable game/contest:
Although there are a number of games that come to mind that were very memorable, the one that stands out is our game against the University of Pennsylvania last year. It was a competitive, difficult game for both sides, and we all knew that this was the most important Ivy game thus far. We were tied and deep into the second overtime when a penalty kick against Penn was called. There was dead silence before Abby Carchio took the kick. But when she scored, the feeling of rushing onto the field and celebrating our gain of a share of the Ivy League title was incredible. Fortunately, my parents were in the stands, and, for me, the experience was even more special because they were there. Our team had worked so hard to get to that place and winning ultimately showed that our hard work paid off.
