
Women’s Hockey Entertains Saint Anselm This Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's hockey team hosts its final non-conference series of the season and will welcome Saint Anselm to Meehan Auditorium on Friday, Jan. 24 (6:00 p.m.) and Saturday, Jan. 25 (3:00 p.m.).

SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Saint Anselm, out of the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA), skated to a 1-1 overtime tie in its last game on Tuesday versus Williams. The Hawks split last weekend against Colby with a 4-3 overtime loss on Jan. 17 and a 2-1 win on Jan. 18. Saint Anselm has seen success on the road this season with an 8-4-0 record. Katy Meehan leads the Hawks in scoring with team-high is goals (13) and points (21) while adding eight assists. Kelly Golini is second in scoring with 16 points on seven goals and nine helpers. Three goalies have seen action for the Hawks with Caroline Kukas leading the netminders with a 1.09 goals-against average, a .954 save percentage and three shutouts for a 5-0-1 record. Michaela Kane has appeared in the most games (11) and has a 2.08 GAA, a .917 save percentage and two shutouts for a 6-5-0 record.
BROWN TALKING POINTS
Sophomore Shay Maloney leads the Bears in points (9) with four goals and a team-high five assists. Three other Bears are tied for second with five points - junior Darby Melia (4-1-5), junior Megan Forrest (2-3-5) and senior Maybelline Beiring (1-4-5). Calla Isaac leads the netminding group in games played (13) and a .906 save percentage. The Sherwood Park, Alberta native stopped a career-best 55 shots at Harvard on Nov. 1 and turned away 35 shots in her second-career shutout over RPI, 2-0, on Jan. 18. She has recorded 40 or more saves five times this season and had gone over 30 stops in 10 contests. Sophomore Hayley Kliczko has also seen significant time between the pipes with seven appearances. She registered a season-high 39 saves at Dartmouth on Nov. 2.
LAST TIME OUT
Brown was defeated by Yale, 3-1, on Tuesday night at Ingalls Rink. The Bulldogs scored the game's opening goal in the first period and added two tallies in the second while the Bears received their goal from junior Kaitijane Blumberg in the third.
ECAC CONCUSSION AWARENESS WEEK (CAW)
The ECAC is once again partnering with the Headway Foundation to take part in its fourth annual Concussion Awareness Week which will take place from Jan. 24 - Feb. 2. The Headway Foundation is a non-profit organization run by former ECAC hockey players that aims to promote a safer sports culture, provide resources and enhance concussion evaluation protocols. Brown's game against Saint Anselm on Friday, Jan. 24 will be the team's Concussion Awareness Game.
THE ECAC/IVY LEAGUE ON ESPN
Video of all home contests and all ECAC/Ivy League games, home and away (excluding at RPI), will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Fans can subscribe and view games by purchasing a monthly package for $4.99 or a yearly package for $49.99.
