PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's hockey team opens its season series with Yale on Tuesday, Jan. 21, traveling to New Haven, Conn. for a 7:30 p.m. game.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale is looking for its fifth-straight win when it enters Tuesday's matchup. The Bulldogs scored four goals in each of their last two wins with a 4-1 victory at RPI on Jan. 17, and a 4-2 win at Union on Jan.18. Yale ranks third in the conference in the penalty kill (.896). The Bulldogs' last losses came at No. 2 Minnesota on Jan. 4 and 5 (L ,6-3; L, 4-1). Claire Dalton and Elle Hartje both lead Yale with 19 points on eight goals and 11 assists apiece. Emma Seitz is third in scoring with 17 points on three goals and a team-high 14 assists. Gianna Meloni and Tera Hofmann have both appeared in 10 games between the pipes with Meloni leading in save percentage (.898) while Hofmann leads the duo in goals-against average (2.13).
BROWN TALKING POINTS
Sophomore Shay Maloney leads the Bears in points (8) with four goals and four assists. Three other Bears are tied for second with five points - junior Darby Melia (4-1-5), junior Megan Forrest (2-3-5) and senior Maybelline Beiring (1-4-5). Calla Isaac leads the netminding group in games played (12) and a .904 save percentage. The Sherwood Park, Alberta native stopped a career-best 55 shots at Harvard on Nov. 1 and turned away 35 shots in her second-career shutout over RPI, 2-0, on Jan. 18. She has recorded 40 or more saves four times this season and had gone over 30 stops in nine contests. Sophomore Hayley Kliczko has also seen significant time between the pipes with seven appearances. She registered a season-high 39 saves at Dartmouth on Nov. 2.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bears went 1-1-0 last weekend with a 3-1 loss at Union on Jan. 17 and a 2-0 win over RPI on Jan. 18 to earn the season sweep over the Engineers. The Dutchwomen took an early first period lead and scored twice in the second on Friday. Sophomore Jacquie Tam recorded the Bears' lone goal in the second frame. Brown rebounded on Saturday with senior Calla Isaac recording 35 saves in her second-career shutout while senior Veronica Alois scored a power-play goal in the first period and junior Darby Melia gave the Bears a two-goal cushion in the second.
LAST SEASON VS. YALE
Yale won both matchups in 2018-19 with a 5-2 win in New Haven on Jan. 11 and a 4-1 victory in Providence on Jan. 12. Sophomore Lizzy Gross and junior Abby Nearis (PP) scored second period goals for the Bears in game one while senior Veronica Alois scored in the first period of the finale.
ECAC CONCUSSION AWARENESS WEEK (CAW)
The ECAC is once again partnering with the Headway Foundation to take part in its fourth annual Concussion Awareness Week which will take place from Jan. 24 - Feb. 2. The Headway Foundation is a non-profit organization run by former ECAC hockey players that aims to promote a safer sports culture, provide resources and enhance concussion evaluation protocols. Brown's game against Saint Anselm on Friday, Jan. 24 will be the team's Concussion Awareness Game.
THE ECAC/IVY LEAGUE ON ESPN
Video of all home contests and all ECAC/Ivy League games, home and away (excluding at RPI), will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Fans can subscribe and view games by purchasing a monthly package for $4.99 or a yearly package for $49.99.
