
Women’s Soccer’s Thompson Earns Second Straight Ivy Player of the Week Award

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer junior goalkeeper Kayla Thompson has earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week following another pair of shutouts last weekend, the Ivy League conference office announced on Monday.
A native of Austin, Texas, Thompson recorded back-to-back shutouts last week, earning clean sheets against Hartford and Providence in a pair of 1-0 wins. She has now posted four straight shutouts. In the win over PC, she helped the Bears claim the Crosstown Cup with their first win over the Friars since 2011. She totaled six saves on the week, making four saves against the Friars and two saves against Hartford.
Thompson paces the Ivy League in GAA (0.00) and save percentage (1.000). As a team, Brown leads the conference in goals allowed (one), goals allowed per game (0.17), GAA (0.16), shutouts (five), and save percentage (.955).
At 5-0-1, Brown is off to its best start since going 9-0-0 to start the 2000 season. The Bears are 5-0-0 at home and have allowed just one goal (0.17 per game) on the year. Brown's shutout streak is nearly 504 minutes (503:54).
Next, Thompson and the Bears host Fairfield on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 4:00 p.m. (ESPN+) before playing at Villanova on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1:00 p.m.
