Delano and Garner pitch Bears to consecutive wins
ITHACA, N.Y. – Garett Delano (Callahan, Fla.) and Collin Garner (St. Augustine, Fla.) gave the Brown baseball team a pair of strong pitching performances as the Bears won both ends of a doubleheader at Cornell, 11-3 and 2-1, to open a three-game Ivy League series Saturday at Hoy Field.
Â
Brown (7-17, 4-4) captured its third straight league contest, while Cornell dropped to 7-15, 2-6.
Â
"Garett and Collin gave us quality starts and the bullpen did a great job," said head coach Grant Achilles. "We played as close to a complete game as we have this year in the opener to get the momentum for the day and followed with a hard-fought battle in game two. Tomorrow is another opportunity for us to play hard and compete."
Â
Delano and Frank Caprio (Providence, R.I.) both went 4-for-8 (.500) with three runs scored apiece in the doubleheader. Parke Phillips (Venice, Fla.) extended his hitting streak to seven games.
