PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University softball concludes a seven-game home stand when the Bears host Yale University for a three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 13 beginning at 12:30 p.m. (ESPN+) and a single game on Sunday, Apr. 14 at 12:30 p.m. (ESPN+) at the Brown Softball Field.

NCAA PERSPECTIVE
In the NCAA rankings, sophomore catcher Madi Cranford (Escondido, Calif.) stands 17th in batting average (.448), 21st in toughest to strikeout (one strikeout per 29.0 at bats), 36th in slugging percentage (.793), and 39th in on-base percentage (.515). Senior Cat Seitz (Poway, Calif.) ranks 20th in the nation in doubles per game (0.38).
CRANFORD CRANKS IT UP
Sophomore catcher Madi Cranford (Escondido, Calif.) has increased her production significantly this season, ranking first in the Ivy League in batting average (.448), first in slugging percentage (.793), second in on-base percentage (.515), second in stolen bases (nine), and fourth in home runs (four). She has totaled 26 hits, six doubles, 12 RBIs, and 13 runs. She has posted multiple hits in nine of her 19 games played and has hit three home runs in six Ivy League games played.
INNERST DOES IT ALL
Freshman Lauren Innerst (San Jose, Calif.) has made an immediate impact for the Bears as a rookie both at the plate and in the circle. As a pitcher, she ranks third in the Ivy League in ERA (2.48), sixth in opponents' batting average (.260), ninth in strikeouts (37), and first in strikeouts caught looking (21). She has thrown a team-high 67.2 innings this year with five complete games. At the plate, she has posted a .267 average with three doubles and six RBIs. In Ivy play, she has hit .318 with five RBIs.
LOTZ OF EFFORT
Senior Ashli Lotz (Austin, Texas) has made a strong return to the Bears' lineup after missing the latter portion of last season due to injury. She has posted a .338 batting average to go with a .400 on-base percentage and .390 slugging percentage. She has totaled 26 hits, two doubles, six RBIs, and five stolen bases. Lotz has posted multiple hits in each of eight games and ranks first in the Ivy League with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
IN HER SEITZ
Senior Cat Seitz (Poway, Calif.) has acted as a mainstay in the Bears' lineup for the last four years, playing in 133 career games with 123 career starts. She ranks second in the Ivy League in doubles (nine) and fifth in runs (18). Seitz has hit .289 on the year with 22 hits and nine RBIs alongside a .526 slugging percentage and .365 on-base percentage. In Ivy play, she ranks second in the conference with five doubles and has hit .310.
VENEGAS A VETERAN
Senior Sofia Venegas (La Mirada, Calif.) stands as one of Brown's most experienced student-athletes, having played in 132 career games with 121 career starts. This season she has posted a .278 batting average and .371 on-base percentage with 15 hits, three doubles, and six RBIs. Venegas has hit .316 in Ivy League play.
IN THE CIRCLE
As a team, Brown ranks second in the Ivy League with a 3.96 ERA. Freshman Lauren Innerst (San Jose, Calif.), junior Emily Waters (Northridge, Calif.), and sophomore Grace Ladd (Boulder, Colo.) have all pitched at least 31 innings for the Bears this season. Innerst leads the group with a 2.48 ERA over 67.2 innings. Waters has notched a 4.52 ERA over 65.0 innings, and Ladd has tallied a 5.97 ERA over 31.2 innings. In Ivy play, Innerst and Waters have recorded ERAs of 3.15 and 4.55 respectively.
CRANFORD A TWO-TIME IVY PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore Madi Cranford (Escondido, Calif.) won Ivy League Player of the Week honors in each of the Bears' first two weekends of play to open the year. She earned the award on Mar. 4 after posting an .875 batting average (7-for-8), 1.125 slugging percentage, and .923 on-base percentage at the District Classic. She took the accolades again on Mar. 11 after notching a .700 batting average with a home run, triple, double, four RBIs and four runs at the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational.
INNERST A TWO-TIME IVY ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman Lauren Innerst (San Jose, Calif.) has captured Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors on two occasions this season. She garnered the award on Mar. 11 after tallying a 0.78 ERA over 9.0 innings pitched at the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational, earning her first career save and first career win. She collected the accolades again on Mar. 26 after registering a .714 batting average (5-for-7) at the plate with three runs, two doubles, and three RBIs, while posting a 2.95 ERA in the circle over 19.0 innings with 14 strikeouts and two complete games.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale brings a 12-20 overall record and 7-5 Ivy League mark into the weekend. In Ivy play the Bulldogs have won series against Penn (2-1) and Cornell (3-0) and lost series to Princeton (1-2) and Dartmouth (1-2). In the circle, Terra Jerpbak leads the Ivy League in strikeouts (69) and ranks fourth in ERA (2.68). At the plate, Sydney Grobman stands third in the league in batting average (.404), first in hits (38), and first in RBIs (25). Olivia Vinyard and Shelby Kennedy rank first and second in the conference with 23 and 21 runs respectively.
