
Men’s Hockey Set to Host Princeton in ECAC First Round Playoff Series

Game one set for Friday night at Meehan Auditorium
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's hockey team will kick off the ECAC playoffs with a best-of-three first round matchup against ninth-seeded Princeton on March 8-10 at Meehan Auditorium. Links to live stats and video will be available at brownbears.com.
Matchup: No. 9 Princeton (10-16-3, 8-12-2) at No. 8 Brown (11-13-5, 8-9-5)
Date: March 8 -10 (Best-of-Three Series)

About the ECAC Tournament
The 12-team ECAC postseason features a best-of-three series format in the first round and quarterfinals, played at campus sites, before single elimination in the semifinal and championship games at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid. Teams will be re-seeded after each round so that the highest seed plays the lowest seed.
Last Time Out
Brown wrapped up the regular season with a pair of setbacks to Quinnipiac and Princeton at home last weekend. Quinnipiac used a three-goal first period to pave the way for a 4-1 victory, while rookie Michael Maloney scored in the loss and Luke Kania had 31 saves. Zach Giuttari scored a power-play goal in a 5-1 loss to Princeton the following night.
Scouting Princeton
Princeton heads into the first round playoff matchup on a three-game winning streak and unbeaten over the last four games. The Tigers swept a road series at Yale and Brown in the final week of the regular season to earn the ninth seed in the ECAC Tournament. Rookie Jay Forget was named the ECAC Goalie of the Week after he posted 30-plus saves in two road wins with a .954 save percentage. Princeton boasts two of the top-scoring forwards in the league in Ryan Kuffner (20-20-40) and Max Véronneau (13-23-36). Kuffner was named the ECAC Player of the Month after leading the league in points (13) and goals (7) during February. Josh Teves leads the Princeton defense with 17 assists and 20 points. As a team, the Tigers are averaging 2.69 goals per game and head into the weekend ranked third in the ECAC on the power play at 26 percent.

Brown holds an 88-72-12 advantage over Princeton in the all-time series, which dates back to a 4-4 tie during the 1899-1900 season. The two teams split the season series as each team won on the road.
Brown vs. Princeton in the Playoffs
The Bears have played Princeton six times in the playoffs, most recently last season, when the seventh-seeded Tigers swept the first round series en route to the tournament title. The two teams also met in 1995, 1996, 1998, 2003 and 2007. Princeton leads the all-time post-season series against the Bears, 9-5.
