
No. 4 Men’s Crew Ready to Host Yale Saturday in Season Opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's crew will open the 2019 spring season on Saturday when the Bears host defending national champion Yale in the annual battle for the Albert Cup on the Seekonk River.
Brown, ranked fourth in the USRowing Preseason Coaches Poll, will take on No. 1 Yale in a top-4 national matchup. Fans are encouraged to watch the event at the Narragansett Boat Club in Providence, located at the finish line of the 2,000-meter course on the Seekonk River.

State of the Bears
Brown finished sixth at the IRA National Championship last season as the Bears reached the varsity eight grand final for the tenth straight year. Brown's varsity boat went 6-1 during in head-to-head competition in 2018. The Bears put together an outstanding performance at the Head of the Charles Regatta this past fall with a three medals, and finished second among collegiate crews in the championship eights, while the championship fours earned gold among college boats.

Yale won all five races against the Bears last season in Connecticut, including a victory in the varsity eight to retain the Albert Cup, as the Bulldogs went on to claim the national title for the second straight year.
