Men’s Crew’s Fargo ’24 Places Fifth with U.S. Men’s Eight at 2026 World Championships

AMSTERDAM – Brown University men's crew alumnus Charlie Fargo '24 and the U.S. men's eight placed fifth at the 2026 World Rowing Championships on Sunday in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Fargo and the U.S. opened competition with a win in heat three on Saturday behind a time of 5:29.99, beating second-place Australia (5:30.19) and two other crews. The U.S. then followed that with a second-place finish (5:25.04) in semifinal two on Sunday morning, trailing only Australia (5:23.71).
Closing out the event, the U.S. came in fifth in the A final with a time of 5:22.32. The Netherlands won the race behind a time of 5:17.75.
Fargo made his first appearance at the World Rowing Championships.
During his time at Brown, Fargo, a three-time IRCA Scholar-Athlete, earned Second Team IRCA All-America and Second Team All-Ivy honors during the 2021-22 season, when he helped the Bears take home a bronze medal at the 119th IRA Championship.
Earlier at the World Championships, Gus Rodriguez '22 captured a gold medal with the U.S. men's four on Saturday.
