Men’s Crew’s Rodriguez ’22 Wins Gold with U.S. Men’s Four at 2026 World Championships

AMSTERDAM – Brown University men's crew alumnus Gus Rodriguez '22 and the U.S. men's four won gold at the 2026 World Rowing Championships, taking first in the A final on Saturday in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The U.S. men's four opened competition with a victory in its heat on Aug. 25, clocking a 6:22.22 to top second-place France (6:25.62) and four other crews in heat two to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinals, the crew took first again behind a 5:57.48, besting second-place Great Britain (5:58.30) and four other crews in semifinal one.

In Saturday's A final, the boat won gold with a 5:41.57, outlasting the Netherlands (5:41.84), Great Britain (5:44.16), Germany (5:49.64), Romania (5:50.14), and New Zealand (5:59.88).

Rodriguez competed with the U.S. men's four for the third time in his career. Rodriguez previously rowed for Team USA in 2022 and 2025 in addition to earning a bronze medal with the men's eight in 2025.

During his time at Brown, Rodriguez captured First Team IRCA All-American honors after the 2021-22 season and garnered recognition as the 2021 U.S. Rowing U-23 Co-Athlete of the Year. Rodriguez stroked Brown's varsity eight during the 2021-22 season.

Closing out Brown's time at the World Championships, Charlie Fargo '24 will compete with the U.S. men's eight in the semifinals and finals tomorrow – Sunday, Aug. 30.
