Men's Lacrosse Hosts Holy Cross On Tuesday Evening In New England Match-up

Providence, R.I. – Brown will take on New England rival Holy Cross on Tuesday, March 19 in a mid-week matchup at Stevenson-Pincince Field at 7:00 pm. Follow all the action on ESPN+.
The Bears:Brown (3-2, 1-0 Ivy) got three goals from George Grell, Ryan Aughavin and Darian Cook in a 16-14 Ivy League win over Harvard last Saturday. Grell scored the game-winner with 1:40 remaining.
The Crusaders:Holy Cross (2-5) is coming off a 7-6 loss to #18 Army on Saturday. The Crusaders have registered wins over UMass Lowell (12-7) and Harvard (11-10 2ot), with losses to Providence (12-5), Vermont (9-7), #1 Loyola (19-15), and Bucknell (10-7).
Brown vs. Holy Cross – Series Record: The Brown-Holy Cross series dates back to 1963 with the Bears holding a 17-0 series advantage over the Crusaders. The two teams met last year in Worcester, Mass., with Brown leading from start-to-finish in a 19-8 win over Holy Cross behind Luke McCaleb's four goals.
All-American Phil Goss In Goal: Goalie Phil Goss '20 (San Francisco, CA), a First Team All-Ivy selection and Honorable Mention All-American, is recognized as one of the top goalies in the nation. Goss, who was named to the 2019 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, came up big in Brown's win over Harvard with 14 saves and made 15 saves in Brown's overtime loss to #12 Virginia. He registered eight saves in Brown's season opening win over Quinnipiac and had nine saves in an overtime win over UMBC. A preseason Second Team All-American, Goss made 13.13 saves per game to rank second nationally in 2018. He also ranked 15th in the nation and second in the Ivy League in save percentage (.538). As a freshman, he led the nation in saves (12.75 saves per game) and started all 16 games, playing 900 out of a possible 967:31 minutes. He turned in several virtuoso performances with 20 saves in Brown's 2017 Ivy League Tournament win over Princeton and 19 saves against Rutgers and Penn. Panepinto Finds The Back of the Net: Middy Michael Panepinto '19 (Needham, MA) has been a mainstay of the Bears' midfield since his freshman season. Panepinto opened the 2019 season with two goals against Quinnipiac and added a goal vs. Stony Brook. He netted a goal and an assist vs. #12 Virginia and added a goal vs. Harvard. An All-Ivy Honorable Mention selection in 2018, Panepinto led Brown in scoring with 27 goals, while adding 10 assists.
McCaleb Cracks Century Mark In Career Points: Brown's attack is led by Luke McCaleb '20 (Chevy Chase, MD), who leads the Bears with 21 points (15 goals, 6 assists). McCaleb netted a career high five goals in the Bears' overtime win over UMBC and followed that up with a hat-trick vs. #12 Virginia. He netted two goals in Brown's Ivy win over Harvard. McCaleb got off to a great start to the season, scoring three goals and handing out five assists for a career high eight points vs. Quinnipiac. He added two goals and an assist vs. Stony Brook.
