
Men’s Hockey Set to Visit Princeton, No. 4 Quinnipiac

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's hockey team will wrap up a five-game road swing this weekend when the Bears travel to Princeton (2/8) and No. 4 Quinnipiac (2/9) for a pair of ECAC contests. The games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
Brown dropped a one-goal game at Yale on Saturday in the team's lone contest of the week. The Bears faced a three-goal deficit early in the third period, and stormed back with two goals in the final four minutes of play, but the Bulldogs held on for the win. Seniors Alex Brink and Brady Schoo posted 1-1-2 in the game and fellow senior Tommy Marchin also added one goal. Luke Kania stopped 37 shots for the Bears. Brown had no penalties for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
Scouting Princeton
Princeton has dropped the last three games and was swept at St. Lawrence and Clarkson last weekend. Ryan Kuffner leads the ECAC with 15 goals, and is ranked fourth in overall scoring with 1.38 points per game, while Max Véronneau is also ranked in the top-10 of the league with 26 points. Alex Riche is tied for the team lead with six power-play goals. Ryan Ferland has started all but one game in the net this season and heads into Friday with a 3.07 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage. The Tigers own the third-best power play in the ECAC at 25 percent. Princeton won the ECAC Tournament Championship last season as the seventh seed and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
Brown vs. Princeton All-Time
This Friday will be the 171st meeting all-time between Brown and Princeton. Brown holds an 87-71-12 advantage over Princeton in the all-time series, which dates back to a 4-4 tie during the 1899-1900 season. Princeton swept Brown in the first round of the ECAC Tournament last season after the two teams split the regular season series.
Scouting Quinnipiac
Quinnipiac heads into the weekend on a four-game winning streak and will host Yale on Friday before facing the Bears on Saturday. The Bobcats swept a road series at Clarkson and SLU last weekend as Odeen Tufto and Wyatt Bongiovanni were named ECAC Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Tufto leads the ECAC in scoring with 1.35 points per game and 35 points, and defenseman Chase Priskie has a team-high 14 goals with 33 points. Andrew Shortridge (12-2-1) leads the nation in both goals-against average (1.22) and save percentage (.952). The Quinnipiac power play is ranked second in the ECAC, and fourth nationally, at 28.7 percent. The Bobcats also pace the league in scoring offense (3.85), defense (1.85) and on the penalty kill (86.4).
