
Men’s Hockey Hosts No. 5 Quinnipiac, Princeton to Close Regular Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's hockey team will close out the regular season with a pair of pivotal league games this weekend as the Bears play host to No. 5 Quinnipiac (3/1) and Princeton (3/2) in search of home ice for the ECAC playoffs. The games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Playoff Picture
Brown enters the weekend sixth in the ECAC standings and can finish between fifth and ninth overall. The top four teams earn a bye and the next four secure home ice for the first round in a best-of-three series. The Bears will clinch home ice in the ECAC playoffs first round with one point in the remaining two games.
Last Time Out
Brown split a pair of road games last weekend as the Bears fell to Harvard, 4-2, and blanked Dartmouth, 2-0. Zach Giuttari and Chris Berger scored back-to-back power-play goals in the first period against Harvard, before the Crimson answered with four straight goals over the next two stanzas. Tommy Marchin and Brady Schoo provided the scoring for the Bears the following night at Dartmouth, while Luke Kania stopped 30 shots to earn his first shutout of the season. Marchin had three points (1-2-3) over the two-game span.
Scouting Quinnipiac
No. 5 Quinnipiac is 2-1-1 since the Bobcats fell to Brown in the first meeting of the season. Odeen Tufto leads the ECAC in scoring with 14-27-41 for an average of 1.28 points per game, while defenseman Chase Priskie is tied for second in the league in scoring with 38 points (17-22-39). As a team, Quinnipiac owns the top offense in the league at 3.69 goals per game, as eight players have at least 20 points. Andrew Shortridge is 15-4-2 on the season and leads the conference in goals-against average (1.43) and save percentage (.944). The Bobcats also have the top defense among ECAC schools, limiting opponents to 1.91 goals per game, as well as the second-best power play at 28.5 percent.

Quinnipiac holds a 23-8-6 advantage in the all-time series between the two teams. Brown won the first meeting of the season in Hamden, 4-1, as four different Bears scored and Kania made a career high 47 saves.
Scouting Princeton
Princeton picked up three points with a win over St. Lawrence and a tie with Clarkson last weekend. The Tigers are 3-8-1 since the return to conference play at the start of January. Ryan Kuffner is ranked second in the nation with 1.44 points per game and also leads all ECAC skaters with 20 goals. He also has seven power-play goals on the season. Fellow senior Max Véronneau has a team-high 23 assists to go along with 32 points. Ryan Ferland has started 23 games (6-15-1) and enters the weekend with 3.07 GAA and a .904 save percentage. Princeton is averaging 2.59 goals per game and is 25 percent on the power play.

This Saturday will be the 172nd meeting all-time between Brown and Princeton. Brown holds an 88-71-12 advantage over Princeton in the all-time series, which dates back to a 4-4 tie during the 1899-1900 season. The Bears captured the first meeting of the season, 4-2.

Tommy Marchin heads into the weekend on a seven-game point streak and a six-game assist streak. He has posted 3-6-9 during the seven-game stretch since the start of February. Brown is 9-4-2 when he scores a point.
Big Green Sweep
Brown shutout Dartmouth on Saturday to secure a season sweep over the Big Green for the first time since the 2007-08 season. Brown outscored the Big Green by a 6-2 margin in the two games.
