
Women’s Hockey Fall at UConn, 7-0

STORRS, Conn. - The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by UConn, 7-0, on Tuesday night at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum. The Huskies scored three goals in the opening period and held the lead the rest of the contest.
"We weren't ready to play at all tonight," said head coach Carisa Zaban Wahlig.
UConn (5-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period, with Kate Thurman getting the scoring started at 2:48. Natalie Snodgrass added a power-play goal at 8:57 and Leona Sim closed the stanza with a tally at 17:38. The Huskies went 1-for-1 on the power play while Brown (0-5) went 0-for-2 on power play.
Catherine Crawley added two goals in the second at 2:56 and 7:10, respectively, to build UConn's lead to five. Both teams had a clean period with no infractions called.
Tristyn Svetek (4:09) and Briana Colandelo (19:16, power play) closed out the scoring for the Huskies in the third. The Bears generated their highest shot total in the final period, putting eight shots on net.
Junior Lauren Rippy (Plymouth, Mich.) made 11 saves in the start while senior Calla Isaac (Sherwood Park, Alberta) added 35 saves in two frames of relief. Sam Yelle-Carpentier logged 12 save in the opposing net.
UConn went 2-for-2 overall on the power play while Brown was 0-for-3 on its chances.
Senior Veronica Alois (Andover, Mass.) led the Bears with four shots on the night while senior Maybelline Beiring (Calumet, Mich.) added three.
Tonight's contest concludes Brown's five game road stretch to open the season. The Bears will next welcome Rensselaer and Union to Meehan Auditorium on Friday, Nov. 8 (6:00 p.m.) and Saturday, Nov. 9 (3:00 p.m.), respectively, for their first home games.
Video of all Brown women's hockey home contests and all ECAC games, home and away, will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
