PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's hockey team concludes its five-game road stretch on Tuesday Nov. 5 with a non-conference game at UConn starting at 6:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
UConn enters the contest 4-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the Hockey East. The Huskies have been off since last weekend, falling to Colgate, 6-2 (Oct. 25), and Mercyhurst, 3-1 (Oct. 26), in their last games at the Icebreaker Challenge in Buffalo, N.Y. Three players pace the team in points with six. Morgan Wabick leads the Huskies in goals with four and has two assists while Catherine Crawley has a team-best five assists to go along with one score. Three goaltenders have seen action for UConn with, Morgan Fisher and Samantha Carpentier-Yelle both logging four games played. Carpentier-Yelle leads the team with a 1.52 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage. Both goalies have recorded a shutout on the season. The Huskies are looking for their first win at home on Tuesday and are 0-2-0 so far this season (2-0 L vs. New Hampshire, 1-0 L vs. Boston University).
BROWN TALKING POINTS
Under the guidance of second-year head coach Carisa Zaban Wahlig, the Bears look to continue making strides in the highly competitive ECAC in 2019-20. The Bears boasts nine underclassmen and an experienced junior and senior class that is comprised of 10 student-athletes. Sophomore Shay Maloney is the team's top returning point scorer from 2018-19, with seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points. Named the team MVP following the season, Maloney led the Bears with three power-play goals and also ranked third in blocked shots (58). All three of Brown's netminders from last season return, with sophomore Hayley Kliczko and senior Calla Isaac starting 14 and 13 games, respectively.
Maloney leads the team in scoring so far this season with two goals and one assist for three points. She has recorded a point in her last three contests and a goal in back-to-back games. Junior Darby Melia is second in scoring with two points (2G). Calla Isaac leads the netminding group with three games played and a 4.45 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage. The Sherwood Park, Alberta native stopped a career-best 55 shots last weekend at Harvard (Nov. 1).
ROAD WARRIORS
The Bears open the 2019-20 season with five-straight away games, starting with a non-conference series versus RIT on Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26. Brown will then open ECAC play on away ice, at Harvard (Friday, Nov. 1) and Dartmouth (Saturday, Nov. 2). The Bears close out the road swing with a non-conference contest at UConn on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Brown plays just four games at Meehan Auditorium in the first half of the season while the Bears will have nine home games in the second half of their campaign.
LAST YEAR VS. UCONN
Brown came back to defeat UConn, 5-3, on Oct. 23 at Meehan Auditorium. Trailing 3-1 entering the third period, the Bears put together an impressive comeback and scored four unanswered goals to claim the victory. Sophomore Tina Paolillo provided the game-tying goal at 16:43 of the third with her first collegiate tally.
After Brown held a 1-0 advantage after the first period, UConn scored three-straight goals in the second to take a 3-1 lead into the final period. Junior Kaitijane Blumberg concluded the outing with two goals while sophomore Lizzy Gross had a score and two assists. Hayley Kliczko stopped 40 shots on the night, including 17 in the second period.
THE CAPTAINS
Senior Veronica Alois and junior Abby Nearis will suit up as the Bears' captains for the 2019-20 season while sophomore Shay Maloney will join the two as an assistant captain. Nearis was an assistant captain for Brown in the 2018-19 campaign.
THE ECAC/IVY LEAGUE ON ESPN
