Brown brings one of the nation's top defenses, ranking second in the NCAA in GAA (0.32), second in goals allowed (six), and third in save percentage (.906), into Tallahassee, Fla., to take on the defending national champions. Florida State earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament for the second straight year and has posted a 45-1-1 record all-time at home in NCAA play.

In the Bears' NCAA first round game, junior goalkeeper Kayla Thompson (Austin, Texas) made six saves in regulation then stopped two shots in the penalty kick shootout as Brown topped Monmouth University in penalty kicks, 4-1, to advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
In a matchup featuring the top two teams in the nation in fewest goals allowed, the Bears and Hawks played to a 0-0 draw through double overtime before the hosts converted four straight penalty kicks and denied the visitors on two of their three attempts on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Seniors Abby Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.) and Celia Story (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) and freshmen Ava Seelenfreund (Truckee, Calif.) and Brittany Raphino (Randolph, Mass.) all made penalty kicks for the Bears.
