Brown Women’s Hockey Falls to No. 3 Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by No. 3 Cornell, 9-1, on Saturday at Lynah Rink. Sophomore Jacquie Tam (Toronto, Ontario) recorded a goal for the Bears in the contest.
After a 2-0 lead after the first period, Cornell (7-0-1, 5-0-1 ECAC) scored six goals in the second to pull away and added one tally in the third. Senior Calla Isaac (Sherwood Park, Alberta) made over 40 saves for the second-consecutive game, making 48 stops in the contest.
Maddie Mills put in the Big Red's first goal at 4:36 of the first and Kristin O'Neill made it 2-0 at 10:02. Brown (1-8-0, 1-5-0) fought off the only infraction of the stanza and Isaac finished the opening frame with 24 saves.
Amy Curlew would registered a hat trick in the second period with two power-play scores at 5:45 and 17:37 and a tally at 19:24 as the Big Red grew their lead to eight. Cornell would go 2-for-3 in the second on the power play while Brown was 0-for-1.
After a Big Red goal at 1:25 of the third (Sydney Breza), Tam put the Bears on the board with a power-play tally at 5:20 with the assist coming from senior Lucinda Quigley (Newton, Mass.). Brown was a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill in the frame and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
With her 48 saves today, Isaac has three games this season with 40 or more saves and has recorded at least 30 saves in her last five outings. Lindsay Browning turned away six shots for Cornell in the win while Ally Dalaya added seven stops in the third period.
"Cornell is a great team and definitely showed why they're ranked third in the nation," said head coach Carisa Zaban Wahlig.
Brown has a weekend off before resuming play with a non-conference game at Merrimack on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 5:00 p.m.
