PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer freshman forward Brittany Raphino has earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season after scoring the game-winning goals in the Bears' wins over Vermont and Cornell last week, the Ivy League conference office announced on Monday.
A native of Randolph, Mass., Raphino totaled three goals, two game-winning goals, an assist, and seven points last week as Brown went 2-0-0 with a pair of 2-0 wins over Vermont and Cornell. She scored two goals, including the game winner against the Big Red, and tallied a goal – the game winner – and an assist against the Catamounts.
Raphino now has four matches this season with three or more points and two matches this year with two or more goals. She has registered three game-winning goals on the year and has scored in four of her last five matches, including in her last three outings. In Ivy play, Raphino leads the conference in points (nine) and goals (four). For the season, she paces Brown in points (19) and goals (eight).
She has helped Brown post 12 or more wins in a season for the sixth time in program history and set a school record for home wins in a season (nine).
In the latest rankings from Oct. 28, the Bears check in at No. 7 in the NCAA RPI Rankings, No. 9 in the Top Drawer Soccer national poll, and at No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches East Region poll.
Raphino's selection marks Brown's seventh Ivy League weekly award of the season. Junior goalkeeper Kayla Thompson (Austin, Texas) won Ivy League Player of the Week on Sept. 9 and Sept. 16, junior Star White (Norfolk, Va.) took Ivy Player of the Week on Sept. 30 and Oct. 21, Raphino gained Ivy Rookie of the Week on Oct. 7, and freshman forward Ava Seelenfreund (Truckee, Calif.) captured Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Oct. 14.
Next, Raphino and the Bears host Penn for Senior Night in their final Ivy home game of the year on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+).
